Big Screen — Privacy Policy

Short version: Big Screen does not collect, transmit, or sell your data. Your screenshots are captured and processed entirely on your own device and never leave it. The only network request the extension ever makes is to verify a premium license key with Gumroad — and only if you choose to enter one.

What Big Screen does

Big Screen captures full-page screenshots of the web page you are viewing when you click the toolbar button or press the keyboard shortcut. Capturing, stitching, annotating, and exporting all happen locally in your browser using the standard Chrome capture and canvas APIs. No image is ever uploaded to us or to any third party.

Data we collect

None. We do not operate any server, run any analytics, use any tracking or advertising, or create user accounts. We have no way to see your screenshots, your browsing, or how you use the extension.

Where your screenshots are stored

Captured screenshots are held temporarily in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) so the editor can open them, and are removed automatically as new captures are taken (only the few most recent are kept). When you download or copy a screenshot, it is saved to the location you choose. Nothing is stored outside your own device.

Premium licensing (Gumroad)

Premium features are unlocked with a one-time license key purchased through Gumroad. If — and only if — you enter a license key, the extension sends that key and the product identifier to Gumroad's license-verification API (api.gumroad.com) to confirm the purchase. The extension then stores your license key locally in Chrome's storage.sync so your premium status follows your Chrome profile, and re-checks it periodically. We never receive this information — the request goes directly from your browser to Gumroad. Gumroad's handling of that request is governed by Gumroad's Privacy Policy.

Permissions and why they are needed

Big Screen requests no broad access to your browsing history or the content of the pages you visit.

Children's privacy

Big Screen is a general-purpose tool and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
